Confederate Rose I
watercolor of a Confederate Rose

This member of the Hybiscus family is called the Confederate Rose and it's unusual in that, when it first opens, the blossoms are snow white. As they mature, they turn pink and, just before they wither, they are brilliantly red. The evolution is rapid with the complete process taking only 3-4 days. I've attempted to capture the separate moments so that they can be savored and appreciated.
