waterlilies tapestry

This is a combination of traditional tapestry and surface stitching, with gaps between weft areas intentionally left as design elements. A client asked if I could "weave one of Claude Monet's waterlilies?" The result was not this exact piece but one very similar; that having been a commission, it's not available. However, many years later, prior to exhibiting my work in San Francisco, I re-visited the design and this is the result. Detail image is below. It is stretched around canvas stretchers, creating what is termed "gallery framed."
48" w by 36" h.
